In her podcast project (part one, two, three), Jessica explores recorded sounds both on their own and in relation to a voice over she places in the center of the work. Her first podcast establishes the sound of rain as an important character in her narrative and helps create a reflective tone.

In her second podcast, Jessica shares a poetic account of preparation for a sword fight; her narration is rhythmic and intense and focuses the listener’s attention.

In her third podcast, Jessica breaks the tension of the impending sword fight by introducing what sounds like kitchen utensils clanging together as if used in conflict. Eventually displaying her sense of humor (and highlighting the absurdity of men flying around with swords), her podcast moves the listener through a range of emotional responses using different sounds and the voice over quite effectively.
